I am Dr. Isabel Charlotte Hacker, a management consultant with a passion for good governance. I have built governance structures from scratch in two companies and have seen firsthand the measurable benefits that clear processes, transparency, and professional oversight bring. Governance is not an end in itself – it makes companies stronger, more resilient, and ultimately more successful.

Why this blog?

Simply put: In my consulting work, I repeatedly witness how companies feel completely paralyzed when they hear the term ESG. The mere mention of it can trigger a kind of paralysis, and governance, in particular, is often deliberately avoided – following the old saying, “ People fear what they don’t understand.”

But what many fail to see is that good governance is not bureaucratic overhead—it is a real competitive advantage. It brings clarity, strengthens corporate culture, and enhances control with minimal additional effort. And let’s be honest: sooner or later, companies will have to address it anyway. ESG is not a passing trend that can be ignored – it is here to stay, with or without regulatory relief from the so-called “Omnibus” adjustments.

With this blog, I want to make pragmatic, actionable governance accessible and appealing. Every month, I will address real-world topics that I encounter in my consulting work – ranging from simple, high-impact measures to long-term strategic considerations. My goal is to show that governance is not a burden – it is an enabler, and as such, comparatively low hanging fruit.
